In. Zaimpert: The aim of the German government to strengthen controls at the external borders of the EU
"The government, like all other European countries-this can be read in many European Conclusions Symvoulion- is to strengthen again checks at external borders of the EU, to make them work better," said German government spokesman Steffen Zaimpert but reiterated that the "problem is not solved by walls and fences."
"Yesterday there was a discussion of walls and fences. It was decided, however, that will take joint measures to improve the protection of borders. This will take eg Slovenia, which is under great pressure, bilateral aid-through in the next week will be allocated 400 border guards and equipment. And FRONTEX as a whole will help countries reinforced their concerns, "said Mr. Zaimpert and stated that it has no relation to walls and fences. "There remains a deep conviction of the government and the chancellor that the problem can not be solved with walls and fences or similar national measures, but only through a coordinated European action, through a better control of the EU external borders," he said.
