OECD: Eurozone holding while the other major economies slowing
In the world's largest economies, including the US and most of China, while growth is slowing in the euro area appears stable.

According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the forerunner of the index, a composite indicator designed to detect turning points in the economies in general reflects a moderate growth rate. However, the euro zone was stable, with growth even be strengthened in France and Italy, but also in India.

The index, whose long-term average is 100, declined further in China to 97.2 from 97.6, according to the OECD. The US economy fell to 99.2 from 99.5, Japan 99.8 from 99.9 and the UK to 99.5 from 99.7.

The eurozone as a whole remained stable at 100.7, with Germany, the largest economy, also maintained at 100.0. The index for France rose to 100.8 from 100.7 for Italy at 101.0 from 100.9.

In large emerging economies, India stood at 99.9 from 99.8. Apart from China, the index moved downward for Brazil and Russia.
