Guatemala: Dozens killed and hundreds missing in landslide
Off hopes to haul survivors after a huge landslide in the community away from the capital of Guatemala, which killed at least 73 people, although rescuers continue their desperate efforts to find missing people in the rubble.

At least 330 people remain missing after the disaster overnight Thursday to Friday in Santa Catarina Pinoula, SE of the capital.

After heavy rains, tons of dirt and rock razed and crushed dozens of houses, trapping residents.

The Sergio Bell, executive agency contingency CONRED, said he doubts whether they will find other survivors. "But we continue to research, even in case you just saved a man yet."

Holding photographs of their relatives tightly in his hands, family members of victims waited in line outside makeshift morgue near the site where diggers are continuing investigations on the possibility to recognize some of the bodies.

According to the authorities, they have counted 73 dead, including 17 children -the three were neogennita- and at least 26 wounded.

About 1,800 soldiers, firefighters and local residents participate in rescue teams, according to David de Leon, spokesman of CONRED, which indicated that some houses were buried under earth and rocks at a depth of 15 m.
