Walking from Rome to Jerusalem for peace
What does a man when after 18 years of disease regains his health? The Briton Paul Hines, however, decided to ... celebrate the restoration of health, serving a purpose.
Over the last six years making journeys on foot for charitable purposes. This year, he decided to walk from Rome to Jerusalem to carry the message of peace.
His journey began in July and is expected to be completed in December.
Mr. Hines is these days in Thessaloniki, with next destination Mount Athos.
He does not consider himself an activist and do not belong to any religion. Viewing refugees suffering and the world to help, providing clothing and food, but all of this is, as he says, in the short term.
"It must be something deeper, to combat the problem at birth. And that means to stop wars. Coming peace" he says, talking at the Athens Press Agency.
It is the first time you walk for peace. Percy had traveled the route from London to Rome to fight Alzheimer's disease: Gather around £ 5,000 for the Alzheimers Society and Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Charity.
Passing from France, saw nearly three weeks about five cemeteries day. "I saw the dead, the war dead every day and then I realized how horribly damaging can be a war" he says.
He is 66 years old. For 18 years she suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and this resulted in losing his job after a point and then could not keep up, says, in his duties (working as a designer at the BBC).
It is not always this easy to do. Indeed it is sometimes very difficult. He walks, he said, on average, every 25 kilometers.
"I see around me people much older and with serious health problems to do much more. It gives me courage, inspires" he notes.
In small bag carries a chalice where the phrase reads "world peace", which will take in Jerusalem and a book where everyone leaves a wish, a message of peace.
Small symbolic objects but conceal and carry large and important meanings: The path shown in website
