More than 1,800 refugees and migrants aboard a boat and inflatable rescued yesterday on six different companies who openly made the Libyan coast, announced the Italian coast guard during the night.

They participated in the rescue operations and two foreign warships, an Irish, the Samuel Beckett, which rescued 242 people and the British Enterprise, which belongs to the European power Eunavfor Med, which rescued a total of 639 refugees.

More than 430,000 refugees and migrants have crossed the Mediterranean since January, while almost 2,750 have lost their lives or ignored their fate, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Nearly 310,000 refugees and immigrants have arrived in Greece and 121,000 in Italy, according to the most recent count, which had been released on 11 September by the international organization based in Geneva. 2,166 have arrived in Spain and 100 in Malta.

The European warships will now be able to operate against traffickers, provided, however, that they remain in international waters and did not enter the territorial waters of Libya.
