Turkish offensive against Kurdish militias
Representative of the Kurdish People's Protection Group (YPG), said today that the Turkish army attacked Kurdish militiamen near the town of Qamishli in northeastern Syria. The Qamishli city is a short distance from the border with Turkey.
"Turkish soldiers fired on the YPG members near Qamishli city, resulting in serious injury of militias and the ensuing exchange of fire between the two sides. Since this incident has caused tension in the region, "said Rentour Xelil.
The forces of YPG have become an important US ally in the fight against the Islamic State in Syria, notes the Athens Press Agency.
