Protests in Argentina against the economic policy of President Macri


Tens of thousands of people demonstrated yesterday M. Friday in Buenos Aires following the appeal of the larger unions, organized a first joint mobilization against the austerity policy that has been implemented in the first months of his administration, the center-right president Mauricio Macri.

The General Confederation of Trade Unions (CGT) and the two arms of the Argentine Central Union of Workers (CTA), which were divided in the days of Nestor Kirchner and Cristina Fernandez at the receiver Kirchner (2003-2015), decided this time to join forces and denounce neoliberal turn to do, like complaining, the new president of the country.

The unions denounced the "redundancy wave" in both public sector and private, after the assumption of power by Macri, December 10, 2015. The unions estimate that redundancies have already reached 100,000 and will continue. The Government admits that it has proceeded in layoffs of 11,000 public employees in the first quarter. The massive participation in the mobilization paralyzed the capital's center.
