Turkish tanks in northern Syria


Turkish tanks crossed into northern Syria from Kilis province, opening a new front in the region, reported the Turkish state media.

At the same time howitzers pounded positions of the Islamic State in the region, said the Dogan agency.

The tanks crossed the border between the two countries near the Turkish village Tsompanmpei located across from the Syrian city of Al Rai.

A little earlier, a cameraman of Reuters agency located in the area said he heard repeated explosions sound and saw dense smoke rising from the Syrian side of the border.
