European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker warned today that Europe must invest further in its defense due to the "fundamental" change in the course of US diplomacy.
"The United States fundamentally changed its foreign policy long before the arrival of Donald Trump," Juncker said during a Prague Defense and Security Summit.
For over a decade, "they think they are taking a very large part of the weight" of Europe's collective defense, the head of the European Commission continued.
"We have no choice but to defend our own interests (...) by increasing our defense efforts," he added.
"Protection of Europe can no longer be entrusted to third parties," said Jean-Claude Juncker, referring to the North Atlantic Alliance.
