The Austrian Ministry of Interior reject the right to work for asylum seekers

The conservative Austrian Interior Minister rejects, in an interview published today, the proposal for more consolidated regulations for asylum in the EU, according to which all member countries would grant asylum seekers the right to work.

Austria received 90,000 asylum seekers in last year's influx of immigrants in Europe, but has since set limits on slot and has imposed border controls. Today, asylum seekers can work in community jobs.

But the proposal made yesterday by the EU Commission includes a regulation that allows refugees and immigrants to obtain work permits six months after they submit their application for asylum.
