Iceland: The Independence Party wants to form the next government
The center-right Independence Party of Iceland announced that it would try to form the next government of the country through negotiations promise to complex, after the emergence of the main party in yesterday's parliamentary elections, upsetting the plans of the Pirate party to take power.
"We have the most support ... So I would say yes," said Biarni Benentiktson Reuters when asked if he thinks the party is the winner.
He said he would prefer to form a coalition of three parties, but declined to say with which parties would cooperate.
The president Gkountni Johannesburg has yet to officially assign the command to the party to be charged with forming the next government.
Outgoing Prime Sigkourntour Ingi Johansson of the Progress Party told Reuters he would meet with the president later today and said he is "expected" the president to turn to the Independence Party.
