American citizen released from Syria with the help of Russia
Russia played a role in the release of American citizen who was detained in Syria and the US had "occasional contacts" with the Syrian government on this issue, the State Department spokesman said today, Mark Toner.
"We appreciate the efforts made by the Russian government for this American citizen in Syria," he told reporters Toner, a few hours after the release of this man became known.
