MSF: The Euro-Turkish agreement is historic waiver of moral rights in Europe

The "Doctors without Borders» (MSF) today strongly criticized the agreement reached between the European Union and Turkey to stem migration flows, calling it "historic renunciation" from the moral and legal responsibility of Europe.

The ngos expressed its "deep concern" about the agreement that provided for the return to Turkey of all immigrants who arrived in Greece after 20 March and have filed applications for asylum or whose application has been rejected.

In return, the EU agreed to give billions of euros in Ankara and pledged for each Syros returned to "resettle" another from Turkey in a member state with a limit of 72,000 positions.

"This agreement subcontract responsibility for these populations in Turkey in exchange for, among others, the assistance of billions of euro," said international president of MSF Joan Liu in an open letter to Member States and EU institutions.

"While evolving alongside our most migratory phenomenon of recent decades, Europe recedes from the legal and ethical obligations," he said.

Turkey also calls for the abolition of visa (visa) for citizens of the Schengen area, but the EU requires previously to change the anti-terrorist law, a term which Ankara considers unacceptable.

The Turkish Minister for European Affairs Volkan Bozkir was admitted this morning Stis Brussels by Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn to discuss this issue.
