Assange's lawyers seek to lift the arrest warrant
Advocates of Julian Assange today announced that they have sent a letter to the Stockholm court which examines allegations of rape borne by the founder of WikiLeaks to the request to lift the European arrest warrant.
Swedish lawyers Assange based on the opinion announced on February 5 by a UN working group, in which Assange is the victim of arbitrary detention.
The lawyers said they have asked, in the light of this new element, the repetition of questioning the European arrest warrant, which had already lost a first time before the Court and the Court of Appeal in Stockholm, as well as before the Swedish Supreme Court.
"We want to reconsider the decision and revoke it," said lawyer Thomas Olsson.
"I think [the opinion of the UN Working Group] is an important fact that should be taken into account," he added.
