The EU approved the "unprecedented violence" in Ukraine
The European Union criticized the "unprecedented level of violence" in eastern Ukraine, where a group of OSCE observers was the target of gunfire, despite the formal ceasefire between pro-Russian separatists and government forces.
"The large increase in ceasefire violations in the Donetsk region makes unprecedented level of violence" following the recent cessation of hostilities agreement in 2015, announced the office of the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogkerini.

South of the bulwark of rebel Donetsk, the OSCE Mission announced. The group, which was in territory controlled by the government forces, he heard an explosion at a distance of 100-200 meters from the car, then fire came from the same direction. "At least three or four bullets whistled one or two meters above the heads" of observers.
The team not lamented victims or were damaged. Observers immediately left the region. However the EU to another communication notes that he has seen "substantial increase in breaches of the ceasefire" in Ntonetsk.Stis April 7, an observer was threatened with a gun by a rebel checkpoint in leading his team to be forced to turn back.
The incidents against the observers is "unacceptable", the EU adds, stressing that "there is an urgent need for a lasting ceasefire."
The conflict in eastern Ukraine has killed more than 9,200 people in two years.
The battles between the Ukrainian army and separatists have however decreased in intensity after the implementation of the ceasefire in September, but outbreaks of violence continue to make heavier the report.
Peace negotiations remain at a standstill for months. Kiev and the West accuse Russia of supporting military rebels, which Moscow denies.
