Teleconference between the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and the Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, on the refugee crisis and in particular the installation and operation in Greece, identification centers and registration of refugees - called «Hot Spots» - to be held over the weekend, as announced in Vienna, the representative of the Austrian Chancellor, Anna Maria Reich. Mr. Faiman had Friday morning phone conversations with both Angela Merkel and the President of the European Council Donald Tusk.
On Wednesday, the Austrian Chancellor, in a teleconference with German counterpart and President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker had promised to send 100 experts from Austria at the external borders of the European Union, to assist with other experts from the EU, the operation of the identification centers and registering refugees at the external borders of the EU, Greece and Italy.
Next week will be sent to Greece "coordinators" from the Austrian Ministry of the Interior and the Chancellery, to establish on-site requirements for the establishment and operation of identification centers and registering refugees so then select the appropriate 100 experts who will from the police, the armed forces and other areas of the Austrian administration.
According to the representative of the Austrian Chancellor, the Austrian experts are primarily intended for recording of refugees seeking protection in cooperation with the EU Asylum Office (EASO), as well as to identify and prosecute networks traffickers as part of Europol.
The agreement of the EU recent extraordinary summit of the refugee crisis, provides for the creation by the end of November, a total of 11 such centers identification and registration at the external borders of the EU, in Greece and Italy, while according to Austrian Chancellery, their contribution to the creation of these centers have promised, except Austria, Germany, France and Sweden.
