Merkel and Hollande agree to the extension of EU sanctions against Moscow

The Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande agreed in favor of extending the EU sanctions against Russia for the Ukrainian issue, which will be discussed during the EU summit in Brussels on Thursday.

The German chancellor deems "necessary to expand sanctions against Russia" during the session Thursday and French President seemed to support this position in statements to reporters in Berlin, where the two leaders met.

At a joint press conference with Merkel, Hollande said that "we must continue to implement the terms of the Minsk agreement and when observed should not continue with" sanctions.

"Will the extension of sanctions against Russia again deemed necessary, although we would wish more progress in the implementation of this process," said the part of the German chancellor before her meeting with Hollande.
