Z.K. Juncker: EU Member States to show solidarity with the refugee crisis

The European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker calls on 28 Member States to demonstrate the EU's solidarity on the issue of refugees.

In the ZDF television channel Wednesday evening Jean-Claude Juncker said that "the refugee crisis has been brought under control."

While progress has been made thanks to the agreement with Turkey, the European response challenged. "The agreement with Turkey is working, but the pan-European response to the crisis of refugees does not work as a whole," said Juncker.

The number of people entering Europe from Turkey has been reduced from about 10,000 a day to 80 a day.

The chairman also urged again Member States to tackle the problem together. "We can not leave Italy and Greece alone," he said. "And we can not put up with only Germany and Sweden accept refugees. The intra-European solidarity should be strengthened, "added Z.K. Juncker.
