He arrested the former finance minister of Lula and Rousseff
Guido Mantega, former Finance Minister of Brazil under President Lula da Silva and Dilma Rousseff, was arrested today as part of research conducted for corruption in case Petrobras, Brazilian media reported.
The Mantega, who was also a member of the Workers Party (PT) when the latter was in power, was arrested in Sao Paulo hospital where he accompanied his wife, according to the information site G1.
Meanwhile, federal police announced that they will give a press conference on a new series of arrests in this huge corruption case linked to state oil company Petrobras.
Without naming the Guido Mantega or PT, the police confirmed in a statement, that the former finance minister had "acted in 2012 with one of the companies to negotiate the transfer of money to pay off the debts of the campaign of the political party that the moment".
The arrests are part of the case "Company Car Wash". This research, which began in March 2014 to petrol stations, revealed a massive corruption scandal within Petrobras.
