Matteo Renzi: 4 billion. Euro losses from the earthquake of August 24


The areas that were destroyed by the earthquake that hit central Italy on August 24 will be rebuilt exactly as was promised today by Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, who said that the losses amounted to around four billion euros.

"Our country will rebuild the affected areas as it was previously, and will make them more beautiful, if possible," said Matteo Renzi at a press conference.

Renzo also estimated that the losses amount to "at least four billion euros", an amount that may eventually be "higher", according to him.

"We must be leaders in prevention, structural intervention" continued promising a reconstruction "no promises, no show".

"All operations in connection with the earthquake will be outside of the Stability Pact", explained referring to European budgetary rules which impose limits on the government deficit and debt of member countries of the eurozone.

The deadly earthquake that devastated on August 24 many villages in central Italy, causing 297 deaths.
