About 100 refugees missing since yesterday in the Mediterranean
About 100 refugees and migrants trying to reach Europe by sea route missing since yesterday off the coast of Libya, today announced the coastguard Libya, stating that 29 million of the 126 occupants of the boat, which sank, rescued.
"According to information we received Wednesday afternoon, 29 irregular migrants African nationality, survived" told AFP General Agioump Kasem, spokesman Coast Guard in Tripoli.
"Aboard an inflatable dinghy which was torn and flooded," he said.
According to General Kasem, one of the survivors confirmed that "the boat had sailed from Gkarampouli (70 km east of Tripoli) carrying 126 irregular migrants" and as carried away by the waves "the boat was torn and water invaded internally, thereby ignoring the 97 immigrants (...) including three women and a child. "
