Syria: The army announced that recaptured a town near Hama


The Syrian army recaptured the city Sorani north of Hama, winning the now out of the hands of insurgents, said a source adjacent to the Syrian armed forces and a non-governmental organization.

"Units of our armed forces in cooperation with forces of popular defense regained control of the city of Sorani and farms that surround it," the source said.

Paramilitaries from Syria and other states are fighting alongside the Syrian army.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an NGO based in Britain, said that the advance of the army of the city was with a cover of intense bombardment by rockets, mortars, and "barrels with explosives", improvised bombs dropped from helicopters.

Insurgents, including jihadists, have captured several villages in the north of the province of Hama, in the center of the densely populated western Syria in recent weeks.

The recent hostilities in Syria is fiercest in northwestern Syria, mainly in Aleppo, pocketed controlling rebels near the capital Damascus and the northern Hama.
