Turkey: At least 18 dead from the car bomb
At least 18 people (10 soldiers and 8 citizens) were killed by a car bomb in front of the police station in Hakkari province in southeastern Turkey, which is populated mainly by Kurds, said the Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.
At least 26 are wounded soldiers and 16 --10 polites-- attack that occurred in the morning at the checkpoint near the police station. The number of civilians killed is explained by the fact that the explosion occurred not far from a place where people waited for a minibus, stated the Turkish news agency Anadolu.
The Hakkari province near the border with Iraq and Iran.
Turkish media attributed the responsibility for the attack on Kurdish rebels of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).
"The attack was carried out by suicide bombers who blew up a van with five tons of explosives," Yildirim told a news conference.
The explosion was so great that formed a crater width 10-15 meters and a depth of 6-7 meters on the site of the attack, according to Anadolu.
The upper broadcasting council (RTUK) prohibited the media to transmit images from the point of attack, the dead and wounded.
