Cholera has cost the lives of 180 people and another 11,000 suspected cases have been recorded in Yemen

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Committee (ICRC) today confirmed 180 cholera deaths since April 27, hours after the country's health ministry, controlled by Shiite rebels Hutu, said the disease has cost 115 people in the capital Sana'a.

CTO World Operations Director Dominique Stellhard told journalists in Aden that around 11,000 more suspected cases have been reported across the country.

On Sunday, the authorities declared Sanaia in a state of emergency due to the cholera epidemic and called for the international community to help prevent disaster.

Yemeni suffered from a cholera outbreak as early as last year, as the health situation deteriorated rapidly due to the war raging in the poorest country on the Arabian Peninsula.
