The air strike launched by the US-led international coalition in Syria on May 17 has struck civilians and is unacceptable, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennadi Gacilov said today, according to Russian news agencies.
Gattilov, who according to the same sources made these statements from Geneva, said that this attack violated Syria's sovereignty and that it would not contribute to efforts to find a political solution to the conflict.
At the same time, US officials told Reuters that the US military had yesterday a fifth air raid on behalf of the Syrian government-led militia, which is a threat to the United States and its assisted sympathetic fighters in the south of the country. Officials called it a purely defensive measure.
