Seoul highlights the rapid development of the North Korean missile program

North Korea's missile program is evolving faster than originally expected, South Korea's defense minister, Han Min-khou said. This statement was made following the condemnation by the UN Security Council of the North Korea missile launcher launched early Sunday morning.
It was a mid-range missile launch, while the UN demanded from Pyongyang to stop its missile arsenal and end its nuclear program.
The South Korean YPPM said in the country's parliament that the Sunday missile launch was detected by the radar of the US anti-missile system THAAD, which has been deployed since last month on South Korea's territory, triggering China's reaction.
For its part, North Korea rejects any international appeal to end its missile and nuclear program, even by its closest ally, China, as it claims that these programs are part of the exercise of its legitimate defense. The central aim of the two programs is the construction of a missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, which could hit the central states of the United States.
