Russia submitted to the UN Security Council a draft resolution calling on the international organization to support the agreement on the creation of "de-escalation zones" reached on 4 May in the latest round of intra-Syrian disputes held in Astana. Russia's initiative has confirmed that Russian news agencies, Russian press spokesman Fiodor Strizovsky, said that "the draft resolution was tabled".
Strizovsky noted that the draft resolution welcomed the agreement signed in Astana on 4 May, appealing to all sides to observe the ceasefire that had begun in the country since the end of December 2016 and calls on States to contribute to the implementation of the Creation of "de-escalation zones".
According to diplomatic sources invoked by Russian agencies, the vote on the draft resolution may take place, possibly on May 8 or tomorrow.
