Iraq: Use chemical from the Islamic State denouncing the Kurds
Blood tests conducted on Kurdish militants demonstrated that the jihadist organization Islamic State made use of mustard gas in an offensive launched against the Kurdish forces in August, today announced the Government of the autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan.

"The results of blood tests carried out on 35 Kurdish militants revealed traces of mustard gas" stressed the ministry of peshmerga, as called Kurdish forces.

"During the attack on the cities and Gkoueir Makmour, the Islamic State launched about 50 mortars" according to the same source, reported in the attack on the two towns in the southwest of Arbil, the capital of Kurdistan.

According to the ministry of peshmerga, 37 blasts resulted in the release of a white powder and a black liquid. Thirty-five Kurdish fighters became ill after they inhaled gas and some of them have been evacuated to hospitals abroad.

The minister appealed to the countries fighting the jihadist organization to offer peshmerga equipment against chemical weapons, referring to the international coalition conducting for a year air strikes against the Islamic State in Iraq.
