USA: State of emergency declared President Obama in Florida in anticipation of Hurricane Matthew

The US President Barack Obama declared a state of emergency in the state of Florida, which within the next hour will be affected by Hurricane Matthew, left behind more than 100 deaths in its path from Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Cuba.

With the President's decision will be released direct federal resources to assist local authorities and internal security services (DHS) and managing emergency (Fema) will undertake the coordination of rescue operations, as reported in a statement issued by the White House.

Matthew, who was upgraded to Category 4 tropical cyclone (in five-Safir-Simpson scale), move north, accompanied by torrential rains and winds of 220 kilometers per hour. Expected to hit Florida late in the evening and continue its journey along the US east coast, to South Carolina.

The authorities have called more than two million American citizens to leave their homes on the coast to be safe.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Nicole, affecting Bermuda, amplified and converted into a tropical storm, with winds of 130 kilometers per hour. May be strengthened even further in the next 24 hours but currently not considered appropriate to alarm bells, according to the Hurricane Information Center (NHC). Nicole is currently in the west of Matthew.

In the Bahamas, residents have been closed in their homes to escape the waters and the winds and almost all the tourist archipelago has remained without electricity. New Providence Island, where Nassau is the capital, many residents said that the roofs of their houses were uprooted by the wind.

Other residents in the western and southern coasts of the island, said they have been left in the dark, in their flooded homes. They were mainly people who stayed in their homes, ignoring the instructions of the authorities to leave areas at risk of flooding.

Even the local meteorologists, located on war foot, forced to leave their office at Nassau airport, and transferred with fire truck in other, safer buildings.

The island's streets are lined with fallen trees and many walls and fences destroyed.

The hotel Atlantis Beach Tower, the facade of which was dissolved, customers gathered at the reception and a meeting room. "We could feel the wind pushing increasingly louder. First left a bit, after all glazed facade became shivers," said an official.
