A 39-year old Uzbek who is already in custody, reported to be the truck driver who crashed into crowd of pedestrians in central Stockholm, killing four people and wounding 15, was now known by the police.
The man, who was known to the Swedish intelligence services as a marginal person without clear links with extremist organizations is suspected that swept pedestrians on a busy shopping street before reaching the heavy vehicle at the entrance of a shopping center.
"Nothing indicates that we keep the wrong person, on the contrary, suspicions have been strengthened against him as the investigation continues," said Dan Eliasson, head of the National Police of Sweden, at a press conference today.
The man seems to have acted alone, but "we can not currently rule out the possibility of involvement of more persons," he stressed.
"We received information last year by the intelligence services, but we did not find any connection with extremist circles" told from the side of the head of the security service Sapo Anders Tonrmpergk.
Moreover, the head of the national police of the country adding that there are "clear similarities" with the attack last month in London.
At present no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack in Sweden.
Police also announced that a suspicious device was found inside the vehicle, but does not know to this time if it is an improvised explosive device, as reported the state television network SVT.
The authorities of Stockholm, where the flags fly at half mast in buildings as well as the parliament and the palace, reported that 10 people, including a child, remain under treatment. Two adults have been transferred to the intensive care unit.
