At least 200,000 people demonstrated across Venezuela yesterday, demanding the resignation of Socialist President Nicholas Maduro and holding general elections on the 50th day of mobilization and the worst turmoil experienced by the country after the election of Maduro in 2013.

In Caracas, at least 160,000 people, according to opposition estimates, were found on the streets of the capital, trying to reach the interior ministry, with security forces using tear gas.

In San Cristobal, in the state of Tashira, on the border with Colombia, at least 40,000 people demonstrated, according to estimates by the French Agency, despite the development of 2,600 soldiers after a series of looting and attacks on police and military facilities.

During the almost daily conflicts occurring during 50 days of mobilization, at least 47 people; Civilians and policemen - have lost their lives, based on the latest account of the prosecutor's office. According to the Non-Governmental Organization Penal Penal, hundreds of people have been injured, about 2,200 people have been arrested and at least 161 have been imprisoned following court-martial decisions.

"This 50th day of resistance, we will organize the greatest demonstration of power this season," said Juan Menres Mécia, one of the young organizers of the demonstrations.

"It was a massacre against the people, but despite what happened, despite the repression, there is more resistance," opposition leader Enrique Capriles said at the start of Caracas.
