After an exhausting two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, US President Donald Trub goes to Israel today in an attempt to "revive" the peace process with visits to Jerusalem and the West Bank.
For the next two days, Trab will hold separate meetings with both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, while visiting the holy places.
Today in Jerusalem he will pray in the Western Wall, while he will visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
This is his first tour abroad after his presidential duties on January 20, and he has already shown signs of fatigue over the dense schedule of events during his visit to Saudi Arabia. The US president's visit to the Middle East and Europe is nine days long and ends Saturday after visits to the Vatican, Brussels, and Sicily.
During a speech in Riyadh yesterday, Tramp urged leaders from the Arab and Islamic world to take action against the jihadists referring to "Islamic extremism," while extracts of his speech referred to "Islamic extremism."
A White House official attributed this change to the US President's fatigue over the obligations of the visit. "It's exhausted," officials told reporters.
Last night in Riyadh, after a day full of events, most of which were delayed, Trab did not go to a Youth Forum event, sending his daughter Ivanka, thus omitting the last event of the day from his program.
During the weekend, Trab was warmly welcomed by the leaders of the Arab world, emphasizing his personal pursuit of limiting Iran's influence in the wider Gulf region.
Political analysts in Washington commented that Trab's first visit abroad offered him an exit escape from the problems he faced in the US capital, mainly after the dismissal of former FBI director James Camley nearly two weeks ago.
