Christine Lagarde calls on rich countries will welcome more refugees because that will benefit their development
The general director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde called on rich countries to "broaden their horizons" and to welcome more refugees, as the huge turnout of refugees and immigrants which has faced Europe could, as stated, are finally proven beneficial for economic development.
"Some countries have agreed to receive a large number of refugees and have done everything within their powers to offer them food and shelter," said Lagarde in a posting to the official blog of the IMF.
"Others, especially some of the countries with more developed economies, they should consider (...) reception of more refugees," continued Christine Lagarde, calling be international action, a few days before the meeting of Heads of State and Government the member countries of the Group of Twenty (G20) in Antalya, Turkey.
For Christine Lagarde, this massive influx of refugees and migrants, whether treated by taking "appropriate measures" could prove beneficial to the host countries, increasing the active population and stimulate economic activity.
