UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres today called on all parties in Venezuela to take all necessary steps to prevent further conflicts in violent demonstrations and called for a resumption of political dialogue.
"We call for concrete actions on all sides to reduce divisions and create the necessary conditions to meet the country's challenges for the benefit of the Venezuelan people," Guterres said in his statement.

"We are worried about the latest developments in Venezuela and we call for every effort to be made to reduce tensions and prevent further crippling," he said.
"We call on the Venezuelan government and the opposition to make a real commitment to a resumption of dialogue, especially on key issues that have already been decided to discuss, including the balance between the bodies of power, electoral timetable, human rights , Justice and socio-economic status, "Guterres said in his statement.
