Armed attack on a hotel in Somalia - Twelve dead



At least 12 people died in the attack which occurred on Sunday morning in a large hotel in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, the responsibility undertaken by the Islamist group Al Sempamp.

The fighters of Al Sempamp blew up a car bomb at the hotel entrance to open a passage and be able to penetrate inside the building, the police stated.

"We have about 12 dead," said police official Ampntoulrachint Ntachir. "The attackers blew up a car bomb to open a passage and went inside the hotel," he explained.

Eyewitnesses also reported seeing many corpses after the explosion of booby-trapped car.

"There was a huge explosion and those who are close to the hotel entrance were killed," said Mohammed Ismael, an eyewitness who was near the point of explosion.

Responsibility for the attack took the announcement as sempamp who seek to overthrow the government supported by the West of Mogadishu and have in the past made attacks on hotels in the Somali capital.

The communication representative sempamp adds that fighters organization still fighting inside the hotel Sahafi, which usually reside civil servants and businessmen.

"The mujahideen took control of the hotel Sahafi, where reside apostates and Christian conquerors," says Abdulaziz Abu Musab to the statement issued by the Islamist group.

However, the military force of the African Union in Somalia (Amisom), which is fighting the sempamp alongside the Somali government, denied this information, making sure that it has full control of the hotel.
