The President Trump threatened to suspend all federal funding to the University Berkeley

The Republican chairman of the US Donald Trump today threatened to suspend all federal funding of the University of Berkeley, where one days before hundreds of people, mostly students, protested violently against a right-wing columnist Breitbart website.

"If the University of Berkeley does not allow freedom of speech and exercise violence against innocent different view - AT ALL FEDERAL FUNDS?" Wrote Trump in his account on the social networking site Twitter.

Shouting "making them shut up" hundreds of protesters broke yesterday evening window panes on campus, set fire to wooden pallets and threw stones against police, who retaliated using tear gas.

Police cordoned off the perimeter of the university and the university finally canceled the event which was to speak spokesman Braitmpart, Milon (or Milo) Giannopoulos.

Strong supporter of Trump, whom he called "Dundee" ( "Dad") during the election campaign, Giannopoulos is one of the most popular forms of American extreme right, which raises nationalist positions and in favor of the superiority of the white race.

Specializing in new technologies, known to social networking sites for the provocative tone, the Giannopoulos had seen his Twitter account to be deleted because it fueled the attacks of the black actor Leslie Jones.

The very Giannopoulos himself criticized in a statement "the left", saying that "intimidated by the freedom of speech and literally do anything to prevent it."

The website Breitbart, adjacent the extreme right, had actively supported the Trump candidacy, while the former head of Steve Bannon is now a strategic adviser to new US President.

Similar demonstrations last month in the Davis University had prevented the holding of a conference in which also the Giannopoulos would speak. In both cases, the students were invited conservative groups.

The Berkeley is famous because it was the stronghold of the defenders of freedom of expression since the 1960s.
