M. Netanyahu honored Archbishop Listiser's memory of Our Lady of Paris

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu completed his visit to Paris today by making a private visit to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Paris, where he honored the memory of Cardinal Listizer, a Jew who embraced Christianity and became Archbishop of Paris.

This was Netanyahu's first visit to the Notre Dame, the historic monument of the French capital. Accompanied by his wife, Sarah, he stayed for about 50 minutes in the temple and stood for a while in front of the plaque in memory of the cardinal Jean-Marie Lizier (1926-2007), the charismatic archbishop of Paris for nearly 25 years 1981-2005).

"I was born a Jew, I received the name of my grandfather, Aaron, I became a Christian by faith and baptism, I remained a Jew as the Apostles," writes this plaque for the Archbishop who was actively involved in the dialogue between Jews and Christians.

Netanyahu will leave immediately for Budapest where he will meet with his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban. This will be the first Israeli Prime Minister's visit to Hungary after the fall of the Communist regime in 1989.
