White House: Obama to veto a proposal to intensified checks Syrian or Iraqi refugees
The US President Barack Obama would veto a Republican proposal in the House of Representatives for more controls refugees from Syria or Iraq, said the White House yesterday. "This legislation would introduce unnecessary and unrealistic requirements which would prevent an unacceptable way our efforts to help some of the most vulnerable populations of the world," he added in a written statement.
The proposed requirements "will not provide significant additional security for American citizens will instead serve only to create significant delays and obstacles in fulfilling a vital program that qualifies humanitarian goals and national security objectives."
