Merkel will visit Moscow shortly, according to the Kremlin

Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel will soon visit Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Yuri Usakov, director of the Kremlin.

"We agreed on a date," said Usakov, according to RIA Novosti news agency reported, without giving further details.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained that the Russian government will announce the date of Merkel's visit "simultaneously" with the German chancellor.

Merkel and Putin "certainly" will discuss with Ukraine, according to Peskov.

During the visit he made in Moscow on March 9 the head of German diplomacy Sigmar Gabriel, Putin had said he "expects the visit of Mrs. Federal Chancellor."

Merkel is to visit Moscow from May 10, 2015, as tensions between Russia and Westerners have escalated because of the Ukrainian conflict.

He had gone to attend the military parade May 9 to commemorate the 70 years of victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

Like her, most Western states leaders boycotted the celebrations to protest the annexation of Crimea.
