The northeastern United States today affected by heavy snow and hail and thousands of flights were canceled due to bad weather which has proven to not be as severe as originally predicted by meteorologists.
After a relatively mild winter, blizzard "Stella" hit many States around 2 am (0900 GMT). Early in the morning, about 15 cm snow, accompanied by hail and strong wind gusts, had covered Manhattan, the US financial capital.
The National Weather Service, however, lowered the amount of snow expected to fall in New York. On Monday they expected snow height up to 60 cm, but then found that the amount of snow will not exceed 20 cm. For this reason, the authorities lifted and the emergency situation in which the town for 24 hours was declared. In some districts of the American city, like Brooklyn, instead of throwing snow sleet and temperatures approaching the zero degrees.
