Jean Clint Juncker urges Britain to stop blocking decisions on EU spending

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker today called on Britain to lift its veto last week on EU spending, saying it would facilitate negotiations for the country's withdrawal from the European Union.

"The United Kingdom is currently blocking a decision and would be desirable and would facilitate the opening of negotiations if the UK could lift its reservation," Juncker said at a press conference after the EU leaders' summit on Brexit.

British officials say London has refused to approve on Wednesday the release of about € 6 billion from the EU to tackle the migration problem in the Mediterranean because of a policy postponing politically sensitive decisions during the period before From the British elections on 8 June.

Juncker also said that some politicians in Britain do not understand the difficult talks they are going to take, especially when they say that the EU must provide a direct guarantee for the rights of immigrants.
"I sometimes have the impression that our British friends, not all of them, underestimate the technical difficulties we have to face." This not just a matter of citizens' rights is in fact a cocktail of 25 different questions to be resolved, "he said.
