The fifteen-year-old knife attack against Raul Hedembo, one of the leaders of the ever-growing Belgian Labor Party (PTB) poll, marked the celebration of this May Labor Day in Belgium.
The assault took place this afternoon, while Hedembo was speaking in Liège and, as it became known, resulted in a slight injury to the calf. He was transferred for precautionary purposes to a hospital, but promised his comrades that he would soon return to the May Day celebration.
The offender was immediately arrested by the police and questioned, and the incident was condemned by the country's political leadership. According to Belgian media, the actor before shouting cried "PTB is stupid" while he was armed with a knife and had a tear on him.
The PTB is a party with references to Marxism-Leninism and Maoic roots, which in recent years has always been in the French-speaking part of Belgium, Walloon. The most recent polls show it with about 20%, a second political power among French-speaking Belgians (corresponding to 42% of the country's population), just behind Prime Minister's Liberal Party, Charlie Michelle, and a little in front of the Socialist Party Of former Prime Minister Eliot Di Rupo, who for decades dominates in Walloon, and which is being rocked by financial scandals involving his executives.
