A white police officer in Texas, USA, was surrendered early Friday, after an arrest warrant against the murder of a 15-year-old black boy was issued against him. The Dallas Sheriff's office announced that an arrest warrant was issued against Roly Oliver, a former police officer in the suburb of Balts Springs, for the murder on Saturday night of Jordan Edwards. Oliver, 37, was dismissed earlier this week because of violations he had committed, according to local media.
The incident occurred last Saturday in a Baltic Springs neighborhood where mainly black and Spanish speakers live.
Oliver was summoned with a colleague for an incident of disruption of common silence during a party Saturday night, according to the Dallas Morning News. When they reached the point they heard shots. Jordan Edwards and four other youngsters, including Edward's two brothers, entered a car to leave the spot when they heard the shots.
The police officer then shot at their car. Initially, police officers had said that Oliver was shooting because the vehicle was heading dangerously to his side, the local newspaper said. Eventually they changed their version when they saw the images captured by the camera that was mounted in the policeman's uniform, according to which the car was moving away when Oliver started firing.
