H Cuba denies that it has sent troops to Syria

The Cuban government denied on Saturday reports that described as "irresponsible and groundless", according to which the Havana has developed troops in Syria to support the forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The Gerardo Penialver, member of the Foreign Ministry of Cuba "categorically denies (...) the irresponsible and unfounded information about alleged presence of Cuban troops to the Syrian Arab Republic," said a government statement.

The Institute for Cuban and Kouvanoamerikanikon Studies at the University of Miami published Tuesday an unconfirmed information from a source not named, according to which soldiers of Cuba identified Syria to "support the dictator Assad Syrian and Russian intervention in this country."

The US television network Fox News reported this information Wednesday, citing both the Institute and an unnamed US official that the "confirmed". Furthermore, the information circulated on social networking sites.
