In restraint invites the German Israeli and Palestinian FM
Two Israeli soldiers were slightly injured today in the occupied West Bank in an attack on a vehicle the driver of which was killed by gunfire, he informed the police of Israel.
The attack occurred on the road connecting Jerusalem to Hebron (West Bank) where soldiers were making checks at a junction near the Gush Etzion settlement, stated the police.
Faced with the explosion of violence, Foreign Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier today urged Israelis and Palestinians to "not throw oil on the fire" and warned against an escalation of conflict "with incalculable consequences."
"I appeal to all those responsible not to throw oil on the fire and to act with restraint in order to help defuse the situation. Any other action will do nothing other than the trigger further tension with incalculable consequences, "stressed the German minister in statements made during a joint press conference with his Jordanian counterpart Nasser Tzountech in Jordan on the sidelines of a meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe on "common security in the Mediterranean region".
