US Memorandum of Understanding - Russia to prevent air collisions in the airspace of Syria
Russia and the USA today signed a "memorandum" of cooperation whose aim is to prevent collisions of aircraft in Syrian airspace, where operating both countries companies.
"The memorandum includes a number of rules and restrictions aimed at preventing incidents between Russian and US military aircraft," said the Deputy Minister of Defence of Russia, Anatoly Antonov, according to the agency Ria Novosti.
The Pentagon confirmed the signing of the memorandum, stating that the full text will be made public at the request of Moscow.
According to a representative of the US Department of Defense, the text includes specific protocols must be followed by crews attempting to Syria. Without giving further details, he said only that required for aircraft to maintain "safe distance" between them.
