MSF: Dozens killed and injured by blows to hospitals in Syria

At least 35 Syrians, patients and medical personnel have been killed and 72 injured by a "recent and significant increase" in air strikes in hospitals in Syria, denounced today Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).

This increase of air strikes, for which the organization does not specify who is responsible, but notes that began at the end of September, has hit 12 hospitals in Idlib provinces (western Syria), Aleppo (north) and Hama (central), half of which operate with the support of Doctors Without Borders, said in a statement the NGO.

"Overall, six hospitals were forced to stop their activities (...) and four ambulances were destroyed. Only one (hospital) worked again, and access to emergency services in maternity hospitals, pediatric clinics and emergency services more seriously compromised these zones ", emphasized in the communication, such as the Athens Press Agency reported.

Moreover "tens of thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes" because of these attacks, added the statement of MSF.

"After more than four years of war, it still leaves me speechless the extent to which the various parties involved in the conflict can violate international humanitarian law," said Sylvain Gkroulx, head of mission for MSF in Syria.

Since the conflict in that country, which began in March 2011, have already killed more than 250,000 people, while 6.5 million are displaced within the country and 4.2 million have quit.
